ADHD and reading
Reading lessons that work with an active mind
Specialist 1-on-1 reading tutoring for students with ADHD. Short, varied activities, a predictable routine and a tutor who adjusts minute by minute.
What parents notice
When reading and attention collide
Many students with ADHD can read better than their schoolwork shows. Reading takes sustained attention, and long passages or worksheets can lose them partway through.
We teach reading
We teach reading to students with ADHD. We do not treat ADHD, and we work happily alongside your child’s other supports.
How lessons work
Built for attention
Every 50-minute lesson moves through short parts, so attention is refreshed often.
Short, varied activities
Sound work, word building, reading and writing, each a few minutes long.
Movement between parts
Hands-on work at the whiteboard and document camera between tasks.
A standing weekly time
The same day and time every week, so lessons become routine.
Instant feedback
Your tutor sees every word as it is written and corrects it on the spot.

Why it works
Sounds first, no rules to memorize
Our approach is called speech to print. We start with the sounds your child already speaks and show how each one is written, then build reading, spelling and writing together. There are no spelling or syllable rules to memorize, which matters for students who find it hard to hold many steps in mind at once.
